Explore the tactile process of painting with new and recycled paper pulp. On Day 1, instructor Delaney Smith-Vaughn will share the process of creating pulp in a blender, dyeing the pulp a range of colors, and explain the pulp painting process. We will use a variety of tools to create painterly and defined shapes with cotton fibers and recycled paper. On Day 2, we will look at the dried paintings and discuss the results in a mini-critique. Leave with the knowledge of incorporating pulp painting into your own work, or just with some really cool pulp paintings!

Feel free to bring paper to be recycled, including old letters, junk mail, egg cartons, etc. This is a beginner friendly workshop, no experience necessary. All tools will be provided.

Delaney Smith is an artist, designer and educator, and based in Denton, TX. She has been teaching art for most of the past decade, and creates sculpture with paper and natural dyes. www.delaneysmith.studio
