With a few simple tools, you can tell a story, revive a memory or simply play with color and pattern through a variety of textile arts.
Day one: Teen Camp participants will begin by weaving a beautiful and expressive wall hanging using all kinds of yarn. We will tackle a variety of tapestry techniques as well as fringe-making and specialized knots.
Day two: We will use water and soap (wet felt-making) to shape fresh wool into a simple, but colorful, bag. Campers will explore aesthetic decisions about color blending, properties of various breeds of sheep for good felt-making.
Day three: Needle felting will be used to add embellishment to the project, along with a plied strap. Campers will go home with two completed projects and the skill to continue exploring at home.
