CLASS DATE: Saturday, May 18, 3-6pm
LOCATION: 2313 Beatrice Street #100, 75208
INSTRUCTORS: Erin Frisch
# of Students: 4-12

Embellish your favorite piece of clothing with hand stitching. This class is open to all levels and beginner-friendly. In this workshop, you will learn how to confidently embroider on clothing with a variety of stitches. You will use adhesive, dissolvable fabric stabilizer to easily transfer an embroidery pattern onto clothing. Several original patterns will be provided for you to choose from. Students have the option of creating their own design; please draft a sketch before class. This class is BYOC, bring your own piece of clothing! An embroidery kit with everything else you need will be provided.

Class will include an overview of embroidery techniques: selecting materials, creating your own pattern, utilizing fabric stabilizer, and a demonstration of embroidery stitches to get you started. Creativity in color selection, stitching, and following your instinct is highly encouraged with guidance from the instructor. Embroidery takes time and shouldn’t be rushed. Time outside of class may be needed to finish your work.

Choosing Your Piece of Clothing:
Ideal types of fabric are cotton, chambray, thin denim, canvas, and natural fibers. Avoid overly stretchy fabric, fabric with an open weave, and thick fabric that a needle cannot easily pass through. Shirts, dresses, pants, skirts, thin jackets, sweatshirts, tote bags, and backpacks are all welcome. Iron clothing before class, and wash brand new items. Reach out if you have any questions!
